How to Choose a Creatine Gummy

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most researched supplements in sports nutrition. Gummies make it easy to take every day, but they differ a lot: how much creatine they hold, how many you need to eat, and what else comes with it. Here are six checks, in the order we'd do them.

1. Start with the dose: 3–5 g of creatine a day

The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) says muscle creatine stores can be kept full with 3–5 g of creatine monohydrate a day. Taking 3 g a day for 28 days fills them without a "loading phase." Larger athletes in hard training may need 5–10 g.

Loading (about 20 g a day for 5–7 days) fills stores faster, but it's optional. At 1 g per gummy it would mean 20 gummies a day.

So the first question for any gummy is simple: how many grams of creatine does a serving give you?

2. Do the serving math

The front of the jar shows a big number; the Supplement Facts panel shows the real one. Divide the creatine per serving by the gummies per serving to get grams per gummy. Then work out:

  • how many gummies you need for 3–5 g, and
  • how many days a jar lasts at that dose.

Example (ATPerform): 3,000 mg of creatine per 3 gummies = 1 g per gummy. Three gummies a day gives you 3 g, and a 90-gummy jar lasts 30 days. At five a day, it lasts 18 days.

3. Look for "creatine monohydrate"

Creatine monohydrate is the most studied form of creatine, and the ISSN's dosing advice is based on it. The label should name the form and list an amount per serving. If creatine is hidden in a "proprietary blend" with no amount, you can't tell what you're getting.

4. Check the sugar, and what replaces it

At 3–5 gummies a day, sugar adds up. Look at Total Sugars and Added Sugars on the Supplement Facts panel. Sugar-free gummies are sweetened with something else; sugar alcohols (such as maltitol), allulose and monk fruit are common. If sugar alcohols bother your stomach, check the Other Ingredients line.

ATPerform has 0 g sugar per serving. It's sweetened with maltitol, allulose and monk fruit.

5. Compare price per day, not price per jar

Jar prices hide the dose, so divide the price by the number of days the jar lasts at your dose.

  • ATPerform, 1 jar: $39.99 ÷ 30 days = $1.33 a day
  • 2-jar pack: $74.99 ÷ 60 days = $1.25 a day
  • 3-jar pack: $99.99 ÷ 90 days = $1.11 a day

Prices as of October 2026, at 3 gummies a day.

6. Pick one you'll take every day

Creatine works by keeping your muscles' stores topped up, so the daily dose matters on rest days too. A 2024 research review found that taking creatine before or after training worked about equally well; taking it consistently matters more than timing.

That's the real case for gummies: no scoop, no shaker, nothing to mix. Taste counts too.

Quick checklist

  • Does a serving give you 3–5 g of creatine monohydrate? How many gummies is that?
  • Is the creatine named, with an amount (no hidden blend)?
  • How much sugar per serving, and what's used instead?
  • What's the price per day at your dose?
  • Will you take it every day, rest days included?

Creatine gummy questions, answered

Do creatine gummies work?

They can, if each serving gives you a real daily dose. Research supports 3–5 g of creatine monohydrate a day. Gummies hold the same creatine as powder; the format only changes how you take it. Check the Supplement Facts for grams of creatine per serving, and take them every day.

Are creatine gummies as good as powder?

For the creatine itself, yes: it's the same monohydrate. The differences are practical. Powder is usually cheaper per gram; gummies are easier to take consistently because there's nothing to mix. Choose the one you'll actually take every day.

How many creatine gummies should I take a day?

Enough to reach 3–5 g of creatine. To find grams per gummy, divide the creatine per serving by the gummies per serving. ATPerform has 1 g per gummy, so that's 3–5 gummies a day; one serving is 3 gummies (3 g).

Do I need a loading phase?

No. Loading (about 20 g a day for 5–7 days) fills muscle stores faster, but 3 g a day for about 28 days gets you to the same place. With gummies, a steady daily dose is the practical way.

Should I take creatine on rest days?

Yes. Creatine works by keeping your muscles' stores full, so take your daily amount every day, training or not.

When should I take creatine gummies?

Whenever you'll remember. A 2024 research review found creatine worked about equally well before or after training; consistency matters more than timing. ATPerform is designed to take before or after a workout.

Do creatine gummies have sugar?

Many do, so check Total Sugars and Added Sugars on the label. ATPerform has 0 g sugar per serving; it's sweetened with maltitol, allulose and monk fruit.

Can women take creatine?

Yes. A 2021 research review found creatine benefits women as well as men, including strength and lean-mass gains in older women. The daily amount is the same: 3–5 g. If you're pregnant or nursing, talk to your doctor before taking any supplement.

Does creatine cause bloating or water weight?

Some people hold a little extra water in the first several days, mostly with a high-dose loading phase. Over time, the extra water is largely inside the muscle. If you'd rather avoid the early gain, skip loading and take a steady 3–5 g a day.

Does creatine cause hair loss?

There's no good evidence that it does. The idea comes from one 2009 study that saw a rise in the hormone DHT. Other studies haven't found the hormone changes linked to hair loss.

Is creatine safe?

For healthy adults, research reviews have found creatine safe at recommended doses, including long-term use. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are under 18, check with your doctor first.

Can I take creatine with coffee or a pre-workout?

Short-term research suggests moderate caffeine doesn't cancel out creatine, though long-term effects aren't known. Combining a lot of caffeine with a loading phase may upset some stomachs. If your pre-workout already contains creatine, count it toward your daily total.

What's in ATPerform besides creatine?

Each 3-gummy serving has 3 g creatine monohydrate plus 100 mg L-theanine (focus), 3 mcg vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin (energy) and 400 mg black currant powder (recovery). It's a tropical-flavored, sugar-free body + mind gummy to take before or after training.
